IR Newport Introduction IR Newport focuses on the analog and mixed signal markets and currently operates CMOS and PowerMOSFET processes at its South Wales site. Products and Services Through technology partnerships, IR Newport offers mixed signal CMOS and power processes down to 0.35 micron. In addition, the company employs highly competitive proprietary process transfer and installation methodology, managing the introduction of customer processes into the facility for fast, high volume production. Manufacturing capability Production and test facilities are all located at one site in Newport, Wales. The six inch fab (Fab 10) supports wafers at 0.5µm. The facility, which has a cleanroom area of 4,800m², combines conventional and SMIF cleanroom concepts to provide class 1.0 and class 0.1 environments, respectively. With a cleanroom area of 3,000m², the eight-inch fab (Fab 11) supports wafers at 0.35µm. A 950m² Probe cleanroom services both six inch and eight inch facilities. Future expansion The IR Newport site has been planned for future fab expansion for both the six inch and eight inch fabs. R&D Globally, International Rectifier is renowned for technical advances and R&D focus. IR Newport has more than 100 highly experienced engineers on site. The latest generation of internal IC and discrete products are being developed there.
