Just About to Graduate?

Wales’s best kept secret is the exciting career opportunities for good graduates in the electronics sector. Welsh companies are forecasting difficulty in recruiting graduates in every area from software through to digital design. There are opportunities in the semiconductor sector as well as consumer electronics and telcomms.

Small (v) Large

Where do you start? There are distinct advantages of working for both but the technical challenges are on offer with both.

Wales has over 300 electronics companies and over 85% of these employ less than 250 people. The challenges of working as a member of a small team can be very rewarding – lots of responsibility from day one, a real understanding of how the whole company operates and the opportunity to try a broad variety of roles. You may not be familiar with the names of the smaller companies in Wales so why not surf our company directory to bring yourself up to speed with some of these niche sector companies. Stock options may be offered to employees of recently floated companies – a definite incentive to ensure your company succeeds!

On the other hand, some of the large, consumer electronics companies in Wales are household names. It may surprise you to learn that most have in-house R&D facilities in Wales. You may feel more comfortable in a large, well-structured organisation. Many of the largest companies have formal graduate training programmes.

Whatever your preference, the challenge and rewards are here for you in Wales – international travel, customer liaison, technical innovation and quality of life.
